Bioscope Cinema to Produce Its First Film ‘Paran’

Bioscope Cinema Pvt. Ltd, jointly owned by Shekhar Golchha, Chairman of Golchha Group, and Ranjit Acharya, CEO of Prisma Advertising, has officially announced its entry into film production. The company held a special event in Kathmandu on Wednesday to formally announce the production of its first film, ‘Paran’.

The film will be directed by Deepak Acharya, known for his popular role as ‘Kaku’ in the comedy television series ‘Sakkigoni’. This will mark his directorial debut.

Veteran actor Neer Shah will play a central role in the film. Alongside him, the cast includes Madan Krishna Shrestha, Keki Adhikari, Praveen Khatiwada, Buddhi Tamang, Mahesh Tripathi, Anjana Baraili, Pooja Chand, Subhash Gajurel, and Yaman Shrestha.

Additionally, the film will feature director Acharya’s youngest son, Aryadeep Acharya, as a child actor.

The shooting of ‘Paran’ will begin in the first week of February and will take place in Kathmandu and Dhankuta.

During the announcement event, Shekhar Golchha shared his experience as the former president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), stating that he often found cultural programs in various festivals lacking Nepali essence. This inspired him to invest in film production to strengthen Nepal’s cultural identity.

“When I was the FNCCI President, I attended various festivals where I felt that our Nepali originality was diluted. I would always tell the organizers that wouldn’t enjoy attending programs that lacked Nepali essence” said Shekhar Golchha.

“Even in our movies, it feels like we are losing our originality. If we keep imitating foreign cultures, our own identity will fade away. While commercial viability is important, we also need to preserve our heritage. This venture is not just about business—it’s about maintaining originality, ensuring professionalism in the industry, and bringing corporate culture into film production. We want to establish transparency in contracts, timely payments for all involved, and accountability in all aspects, including taxation.”

Similarly, Ranjit Acharya revealed that although the company was established in 2017 with plans to produce films, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their progress. However, he emphasized their commitment to creating films that resonate with Nepali audiences.

“We registered the company in 2017 with the intention of making films, but the actual project moved forward only in 2024,” Acharya stated.

“Now, we will consistently produce films that carry Nepal’s essence. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with international production houses to bring global investment into Nepal’s film industry and co-produce international films within Nepal.”

The event was attended by Superstar Rajesh Hamal, veteran actor Haribansha Acharya, actors Deepashree Niraula, Nisha Adhikari, Dinesh DC, Ashok Sharma, and Krishna Malla. Notable business figures including Pashupati Murarka, Saurabh Jyoti, Bidushi Rana, Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, MP Asim Shah, and QFX Directors Nakim Uddin and Bhaskar Dhungana were also present.

The first production under Bioscope Cinema Pvt. Ltd., ‘Paran,’ will be shot by cinematographer Shivaram Shrestha and color-graded by Supreme Parajuli.
